OVERVIEW

I worked on this project as the main Product designer, in collaboration with the Product Manager, development team, as well as our Data team and QA manager. I created a style guide, turned insights from ideation sessions and initial usability tests into wireframes, converted them into high-fidelity UI screens and crafted a prototype.

CHALLENGE

We identified a need to improve the recruitment platform to better support recruiters. Over 50% of resume's were poorly processable due to structural issues, such as excessive or sparse content, improper formatting, missing key professional details, and disorganized work experience, skills, and education. These flaws made it hard for recruiters to evaluate candidates effectively, potentially causing strong candidates to be overlooked. We were concerned with three main metrics. Explore new business model, increase the volume of resume, Boost Figaro Emploi’s growth rate rapidly.

FOUNDATION

We broke the project down into a few important chunks of work. This included: getting the core of the resume builder, being able to fully create an onboarding, setup fundamental features, guided discovery and contextual discovery. Given this piece of work was a completely new part of the product — we decided to focus on getting the core of the resume builder.Setting up the foundations. We wanted a solid functioning onboarding flow in place before we layered features or optimisations on top. As Figaro Emploi is a B2C product aimed at job seekers, the journey begins with the user signing up and creating their account. The next step is for the user to set up their profile and start building their resume. We conducted a usability test using Maze to guide the tasks they needed to complete. This helped us understand how real users interact with our solution.

HIGHLIGHT

Our research revealed that 60% of users had used a CV builder at some point in their career. The most common challenges they faced were:

1.Complexity in existing CV builder applications
2.Incompatibility with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
3.Limited customization options

In collaboration with the product manager, we categorized the user journey into three distinct stages to optimize the timing for introducing the CV Builder. Additionally, I performed a competitive analysis of the CV builder market, evaluating competitors' strengths, weaknesses, and market positioning.

This research highlighted a growing demand for digital CV builders, especially among Millennials and Gen Z users who prefer digital solutions. Wireframing the Solution With the research findings in hand, I worked on potential solutions to address the identified issues:
Reduce the number of steps to minimize time to completion Provide contextual advice throughout the CV creation process Design resumes that are ATS-friendly to increase job opportunities I quickly drafted basic wireframes to gather feedback from the product, engineering, and user teams on the overall layout and structure.
The goal was to establish a standardized visual hierarchy and layout for the CV builder.
